A documentary about our kelp forests

SEAFORESTATION

The issue

Kelp forests, which cover 28% of Earth’s coastlines, are rapidly declining globally due to a variety of climate changes.

Overfishing, ocean warming & marine heatwaves, tropicalization, and other stressors have led to massive urchin barrens and kelp forest loss.

Photographers, marine scientists, and activists across the world tell the story of one of our most important and undervalued ecosystems, the kelp forests.

In this underwater journey, researchers work to save these cold water habitats in the face of a rapidly warming ocean.
